Review On Hotel Exe Cristal Palace in Barcelona Spain

I’ve stayed at hotels in many cities around the world, and I’ve never been as impressed with a hotel as I was with Hotel Exe Cristal Palace in Barcelona Spain. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the city, they had great amenities like free Wi-Fi and breakfast, and they were located right across from Plaza Catalunya and only 10 minutes away from Las Ramblas. Everything about this hotel exceeded my expectations – it’s definitely worth checking out if you ever find yourself traveling to Barcelona!

Superior Rooms

We were booked into a superior room, on the second floor overlooking the ocean. The room is spacious with king-size bed and ample storage. The interiors are so well made and installed that you will feel at home. You will be provided with WiFi, clean sheets, luggage space, an infant bed, and temperature control.

The windows open out onto a small balcony that overlooks Plaza Vara de Rey, a busy square with plenty of bars and restaurants. The views are definitely better than those of most other hotels we’ve stayed at in Barcelona, but as you’re high up on a hill, it can be slightly windy, making the room fresher. As the sun sets you can sit out late at night drinking wine and enjoying your view.

Hotel Lobby

Upon entering the Hotel Exe, guests are greeted by a large lit-up lobby with gorgeous furniture and seating. It’s not as busy or crowded as one might think given its size, and guests can wander around at their leisure. There is a variety of reception desks for different languages (and representatives of those languages are on hand), making it easy to find someone who speaks English or any other language. The concierge desk also has handy English-speaking employees so it’s easy to ask questions or reserve tickets for museum visits, etc.

Guests of all ages are welcome at Hotel Exe, from young couples to parents traveling with children. While it is not an all-inclusive resort, Hotel Exe does have some nice perks for families. There is a kids’ menu that can be ordered any time of day, and there are a number of activities available both on and off property such as swimming pools and a private beach on nearby Barceloneta Beach. The hotel also has strollers available to guests who need them.

Hotel Pool

Pool-wise, the facility is quite alright. All guests can swim here anytime they want and it’s open to the public during certain hours too. You can order drinks at the pool and sometimes live music accompanies these occasions. However, there is no lifeguard on duty and towels have to be checked out from the desk located near the entrance of the pools.

There are also a set of activities lined up every week. These events range from getting massages to special beach volleyball tournaments. This summer, there was even a theme night where guests were entertained by salsa bands. Guests can avail of a discounted price when signing up for these events and if they wish to be a part of one, all they have to do is provide their names at the front desk before 7 pm each day.

Hotel Restaurant

Every dish we tried was one of the best, most mouth-watering dishes we have ever had. I would highly recommend booking a table at the restaurant, as it is well worth it. The service was impeccable and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and which glasses to serve with what foods.

The dishes are brought out to you one at a time, allowing for you to savor each dish before moving onto another. The portions are also small, which encourages sharing so you can sample all of your favorites. Be sure to try their homemade desserts; they’re out of this world! The creme brulee is definitely a must-try!

The Gym/Spa

A huge plus of the Hotel Exe Crystal Palace is the gym and spa. The gym is spacious, has lots of machines and trainers on hand. The equipment that wasn’t available was only a few minutes away by elevator. The spa offers all sorts of different treatments, from mud baths to massages – they also have pools. I received an hour-long massage, which was absolutely amazing! It definitely helps get rid of any knots or stiffness you may be feeling from traveling (or life). After my massage I soaked in the hot tub for about an hour – it’s so calming and relaxing, like a mini vacation from the outside world. These amenities are an added bonus if you’re considering staying at this hotel.

The Service

We checked into the Hotel Exe Crystal Palace and felt welcomed by the courteous staff. The hotel was pristine and our room had just been renovated. They even had a small bag filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, earplugs, insect repellent etc. As if that wasn’t enough they put fresh flowers on our bedside table! We left a lot of food items in the mini-fridge because we didn’t want to carry them around all day as we explored Barcelona but they were kindly taken care of for us – so thoughtful! The concierge service was exceptional and recommended some great places to eat.

The hotel’s location is also perfect. It’s a short distance to Las Ramblas and Gothic Quarter but it is still off-the-beaten path enough to get away from all of the tourists and drunk crowds (but there are plenty of great tapas places within walking distance). When we asked for recommendations on what to do during our stay, they not only suggested some awesome stuff we never would have thought of, but they also arranged everything for us. They went above and beyond our expectations and we will absolutely stay here again when visiting Barcelona.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Hotel Exe Cristal Palace is a very good hotel. It is located about fifteen minutes from La Sagrada Familia and can accommodate most any need for your stay in Barcelona. If you are looking for a centrally located luxury hotel with excellent staff, then I recommend staying at the Hotel Exe Cristal Palace.
